In a fattening stable from 2011 we exchanged all fans about 4 months ago. No, they weren't defective,
it was just about saving energy. The existing fans had 400V Asyncron motors and were regulated
by frequency converters, thus quite usual state of the art.

The customer had been intensively involved with our new fans from ebmPapst and had asked us to
calculate the savings potential of EC technology.

Since we are never aware of all factors such as weather, occupancy and customer settings and in this
case also had emission requirements, we cautiously forecast a savings potential of approx. 35%.
The fact that it is a large barn, which required approx. 90,000 kWh per year, could be calculated
from this a saving of about 7800, - € per year. With the investment sum an amortization would have
resulted in 3.5 years. A clear thing for the customer, he commissioned us with the conversion to our
EC fans.

For us this object was also very interesting because this customer had stored his energy consumption
for all areas, thus also the ventilation by means of Excel table per month.

The conversion was relatively simple due to our pipe installation fans with the same fixing points.
12 fans were replaced in total.

The main advantage of EC fans is their higher efficiency. In addition, we make use of some characteristics of axial fans in order to achieve the highest possible energy efficiency.

The result, after now 3 months of operation, compared to the years 2017-18, has also surprised us. We would never have expected such savings ourselves. But it shows that we are on the right track with our control strategy and the EC fans, which are built by Ebm-Papst especially for hdt.

Calculation in advance and the corresponding design of the fans, as well as the high-quality technology also show their effect during conversions.

With the new values in this case, the amortization already occurs after almost 2 years. This not only pleases us but also the customer.
